Daniels Creek 6-26-10

The original plan was to paddle in the Bay but the wind canceled those plans. We always try to have a plan B and Daniels creek is usually it. We were on the water and headed up river by 6PM and made it back to the dock about 8:30. This is a wonderful way to wrap up the day. The only draw back was that on a couple of occasions on the way back we had the sun nearing sunset reflecting off the water making it very difficult to see where one is going. It was a lovely paddle.

It was good to have some friends along to make use of that old Necky Tandem. Kayaking really is "the more the merrier".

It was good to have Ryan along, he's only 18 but he's already figured out that life is often better at 2 miles an hour.

Right where the river hits the ocean there was a large group of sea lions or seals (I don't know which). Just hangin out soaking in some rays.

About half way down the river you run into a small dam. Fortunately you can get out of your kayak and walk it down this ramp. I assume the ramp was built by ODFW. Whoever built it we're sure glad they did because it make this paddle fun and easy.

SiltCoos Lake is the largest lake on the Oregon Coast. SiltCoos River runs three miles from the west side of the lake to the pacific ocean. This shot was taken just after entering the river.
