Contoocook River, New Hampshire 7-22-10

I'm just paddling along minding my own business and wham, I get lifted right out of the water! There's a very large rock about an inch below the surface. Took me a while to wiggle outa this one.

Wayne and I spent a great deal of time on the Contoocook this week and we didn't expore it all. We paddled a total of 18 miles and didn't scratch the surface of this amazing river. We'll be back.

Another tree down as a result of the wind/thunder/lightning storm the night before. Looks like it snapped this tree like a tiny toothpick.

This little guys didn't move a mussle for quite some time. They stand so still it's really easy to paddle right on by and not notice them standing there.

A major storm had come through the night before. Wayne and I were on this same river 4 days ago and that tree was standing upright.

Wayne and I enjoyed the paddle so much we decided it was worth doing again 4 days later. As hard as it was to believe the second paddle was better than the first. Totally relaxing, less people (the first paddle was on a Sunday). Very nice indeed.

Ok ok, you caught me paddling a cheezy sit on top rental, I get it, but what can I say? Paddling is a blast even on a cheezy boat. Besides with the temp pegged at roughly 104, a sit on top was just the ticket. I'm no paddle snob, no sir eeee! Whiskeytown lake was a blast and a good time was had by all.

These sit on tops are not the ideal in most situations, but when the temp is over a hundred, you keep pretty cool. I must say Debbie is looking cool as well. Hi cuz!
